Continuing Competence Approval Program (CCAP)
The Texas Physical Therapy Association (TPTA) administers the CCAP on behalf of the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners (TBPTE). Courses must meet the criteria set by the TBPTE Rules.
Texas does not offer reciprocal credit with other state jurisdictions; however, many other states may accept Texas credit. Please check with the state licensing board to determine whether the course qualifies for credit in that state.

How long does it take for individual course applications to be completed?
Courses are reviewed in the order they are received. Current processing time is around 4 weeks. Individual applications can be Expedited for an additional fee. Expedited applications are guaranteed to be sent out to review within two business days upon receipt. Current processing times for Expedited applications are 1-2 weeks. Fees are listed below.
What items do I need to submit with my application?
To complete a course application, you will need to submit the following items:
- Timed schedule or table of contents (if requesting credit for reading)
- List of course objectives
- CV or Bio for each course instructor/speaker
- Statement of relevance to the practice of physical therapy
- List of instructional methods for the course
- Course certificate
- Course evaluation
Please note that the items above are required for a complete application. Applications without all the documents above cannot be processed or approved.
What is the statement of relevance to the practice of physical therapy?
The statement of relevance should be a statement in your own words as to why this course is relevant to your practice of physical therapy. Applications cannot be accepted without this statement.
What is the list of instructional methods?
The list of instructional methods is a list of the types of instruction for the course, ie lab, lecture, reading materials, course test, etc. Applications cannot be accepted without this list.
How can I find out the status of my application?
While logged into the CCAP website, click on your name at the top right corner. Your profile menu will pop up on the left of the screen. Click on “Applications” to see where your course is in the approval process. There are a number of tabs that the courses move through, so please check all tabs.
